US RotorCVT patent granted!
Submitted by Jan Naude on Fri, 2008-10-10 15:09.The US RotorCVT application has been granted. Claim 1 of this granted patent, US7416506, protects the conceptual functioning of the RotorCVT and therefore will also protect the different implementations of the concept in different applications.
iCVT conjugate cam driven ratio shifter and animation
Submitted by Jan Naude on Tue, 2008-08-26 14:04.The most recent further development of the iCVT oscillating shifting mechanism is presented below. This Oscillating shifter is driven by a conjugate cam pair and is integrated in the sheave unit. The picture to the right presents the conjugate cam pair.
New iCVT shifter mechanism
Submitted by Jan Naude on Fri, 2008-05-02 19:49.The most recent development of the iCVT includes a radically simplified oscillating shifting mechanism that replaces the Geneva wheel based shifter mechanism. This Oscillating shifter is driven by a barrel cam, coupled to a locking mechanism that results in accurate high speed shifting.

RotorCVT compact design and granted European patent
Submitted by Jan Naude on Thu, 2008-01-31 15:47.Our European patent application on the rotorCVT has been granted and validations are in progress. The granted European specification, EP1592900B1, can be downloaded below. An animation of a new improved compact rotorCVT design has been added to our Recent Videos. See Compact rotorCVT. This design presents a complete drive train and includes the rotorCVT, a clutch, a forward gear, reverse gear, low gear and a differential. All this functionality is configured around the output axle making, use of a single planetary gear set.

Barloworld CVT Technologies received an overwhelming response at our stand at the 6th International CTI symposium on Innovative Automotive Transmissions in Berlin, Germany. On display was a fully functional model of the iCVT complete with iCVT shifter as well as a rocker pin version model of the drive chain. This rocker pin type chain, also known as a silent chain, is based on existing chain technology and adapted for use in the iCVT. With this chain design the drive bars in the original design is eliminated while the chain pin tips engage protruding "ribs" on the partial drive section of the sheaves. See below picture.
