CTI 2007 Berlin paper download

Barloworld CVT Technologies received an overwhelming response at our stand at the 6th International CTI symposium on Innovative Automotive Transmissions in Berlin, Germany. On display was a fully functional model of the iCVT complete with iCVT shifter as well as a rocker pin version model of the drive chain. This rocker pin type chain, also known as a silent chain, is based on existing chain technology and adapted for use in the iCVT. With this chain design the drive bars in the original design is eliminated while the chain pin tips engage protruding "ribs" on the partial drive section of the sheaves. See below picture.
Silent chains are known for very high mechanical efficiencies as well as silent running, which make them ideal for use in the automotive environment. Available for download below is the paper presented at CTI by Dr. Jan Naude the inventor and MD of Barloworld CVT Technologies.
