Naudic rotorCVT Benefits

Built-in Reduction Gearing

Final drive reduction gearing is eliminated with the Naudic rotorCVT, since the stroke of both the rocker and the rotor can be varied, resulting in very high reduction being possible within the CVT itself. (Typically 30:1 in low ratio).

Improved Fuel Efficiency

It is likely that the Naudic rotorCVT will exceed the 18% fuel savings claims of conventional CVTs (over conventional 5-speed manual gearboxes), because the conventional, traction fluid designs suffer from fuel-sapping friction and hydraulic control losses inherent in their design.

Robust and Efficient Design

The Naudic rotorCVT, eliminates backlash (all oscillating components are spring loaded), and outputs a perfectly flat velocity profile. It comprises off-the-shelf components, (such as the two sprags utilised in the design), and boasts a robust and uncomplicated design.

No Traction Fluid

Because the Naudic rotorCVT does not utilise traction fluid, as is the case with conventional toroidal and variable pulley CVTs, it is a more efficient system, with less mechanical stress compared to the high pressure required to generate traction through "interlocking" of the traction fluid interface. The simpler, low maintenance design of the Naudic rotorCVT only requires standard gearbox lubricants.

Increased Flexibility and Performance

The Naudic rotorCVT is aimed squarely at the market where the current dry-running rubber belt and pulley system and traction fluid CVT is ubiquitous. It is a large market which features growth segments such as:

  • Small and micro cars
  • Offroad and ATVs
  • Scooters and 3-wheeler delivery vehicles
  • Self-propelled agricultural machines
  • Construction vehicles and equipment
  • Industrial machine applications

Maximised Performance

Unlike the conventional CVTs employed in this market, which increase the ratio when the rpm is increased, (thus preventing full power throughout the variable range), the Naudic rotorCVT's adjustment mechanism operates independently from the engine rpm, meaning that the operator can engage any ratio at any time without power loss

Important

The Naudic iCVT and rotorCVT are patented, prototype-proven technologies available world-wide through Barloworld CVT Technologies, for any licenced application.
