Jan Naude, managing director and inventor

Jan Naude, managing director of Barloworld CVT Technologies, is an inventor in the field of CVTs (Continuously Variable Transmissions).

He obtained a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering (B.Eng (Mech)) from Rand Afrikaans University (RAU). He obtained a masters degree in mechanical engineering (M.Eng), cum laude, and a doctorate in 1998.

From January 1998 up to December 2001 he was employed by RAU as a senior lecturer. In March 2000 he registered as a professional engineer (Pr.Eng).

Since 1996 he has consulted for a number of companies including ISCOR, Machine Tool Technologies and Safety in Mines Research Advisory Committee (SIMRAC).

He has presented and published 17 papers at international and local conferences and journals and was awarded with 2 research grants from the National Research Fund through the Technology and Human Resources for Industry Programme.
